Leigh Clemons
Associate Professor (Literature, Theory, and Criticism)
Clemons
received her Ph.D. in Theatre (history minor) from the University of Minnesota. Her areas of research include early twentieth-century German theatre, the theatre of the countries of the former Yugoslavia, and theories of performing national identity. Her book, Lone Stars: Theatre, Performance, and Texan Cultural Identity is forthcoming from the University of Texas Press. She has published articles and reviews in Theatre Journal, Theatre Survey, Theatre Insight, Text and Presentation, Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, and Theatre History Studies. Dr. Clemons received the 2005 LSU Phi Kappa Phi Non-Tenured Faculty Award in Creative and Performing Arts. She has also received Faculty Enhancement Grants from LSU's Project of Learning through Service and LSU Campus- Community Coalition for Change to develop courses featuring innovative learning strategies. She teaches courses in the undergraduate and Ph.D. programs and is also an active faculty member of the Women's and Gender Studies Program. She is also the book review editor for Intelligent Agent magazine, a web-based electronic arts and media theory journal and serves as chair of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education’s Writing Mentorship Program.
