Vastine returns to the LSU Department of Theatre after three
years at the acclaimed New Jersey regional theatre George Street
Playhouse. He joined GSP as Company Manager and then in 2004 he
was named the Director of Special Events. In 2002, he graduated
from LSU with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre (Directing). At
LSU he held an administrative assistantship at Swine Place for
three years. During his assistantship he worked in marketing,
box office and development. In 2001, he directed To Kill a
Mockingbird at Swine Palace. From 1991until 1998, Vastine
was President of the Board of Birminghams oldest community
theatre, Birmingham Festival Theatre. While in Birmingham he was
also ArtisticDirector and co-founder of the highly successful
new play festival Southern PlayWorks. During Southern PlayWorks
five-year history, fifteen new southern plays were producedand
another dozen were developed.
