John Raley
(Visiting Assistant Professor of Scenic Design)

John received his MFA in design at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. His recent work includes co-designing a world premiere opera about Edward Hopper commissioned by the National Gallery in Washington D.C. in conjunction with a gallery exhibition of Hopper's work. He has also designed many works in New York and Washington D.C. His numerous productions for The Baltimore Shakespeare
Festival include Julius Caesar which won Best Design at the 2004 Greater Baltimore Theatre Awards. He has been the associate
designer on productions for many major opera companies including The Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Boston Lyric Opera and the New Orleans Opera.
