 Welcome
to the LSU Department of Theatre, one of the most comprehensive and
widely respected theatre training institutions in the Country.
Our faculty and staff are known for their artistic and scholarly
accomplishments, professional achievements, and their ability to
serve as inspiring teachers and mentors. Our students are passionate
about the theatre and its possibilities -- in both scholarship and
performance, they are eager to experiment and take creative risks.
The LSU Department of Theatre joins a small number of prestigious
training programs that supports a full-time, year-round professional
Equity Theatre, Swine
Palace Productions.
Soon, we will boast some of the finest theatre facilities in the
nation. The M&DA Building, our primary home, will undergo a
$23 million renovation to begin December 2004. As part of this project,
the Claude L. Shaver Theatre
will be restored to its 1930's art deco brilliance; a new black-box
theatre will be added in addition to state of the art production
support labs, studios and classrooms. The
Reilly Theatre, home of Swine Palace Productions, will be further
enhanced as part of a phase IV renovation, to begin in the near
future.
